Home Solar Energy Advantages
Have you considered using solar energy for your home? I am guessing you are which explains why you are reading this article. If you are looking for more information on solar power and trying to learn how it can be beneficial to you, then you will not be disappointed. Solar energy presents a few clear advantages such as being green and renewable, in abundant supply as well as cost absolutely nothing to produce. Not only so, we can cut down our reliance on fossil fuels which are fast depleting in the world reserves.
Advantages
Let us list down a few clear benefits. Firstly, it is green. What this means is that when using sun power, the usage does not produce any harmful residues such as pollutants. There is so unlike fossil fuels that often leaves a harmful trace behind.
The other plus point is the opportunity to cut back our reliance on fossil fuels. Oil and gas supplies are thinning globally and it is a matter of years when the supplies will run dry. Rather than face a global standstill then, it is wise to turn to alternatives, such as the wind and sun for our power demands.
The sun will not vanish or die off which means we will have an endless supply of power needed to sustain our lives and all activities we participate in.
Did you know that the photovoltaic panels are durable and can last for as long as 20 to 30 years? This is one of the toughest power systems built to last.
The last advantage is naturally in the cost of production. The sun is a huge reservoir of boundless energy and supplies it freely. When tapping on this resource, you do not need to pay any utility company for it.
Disadvantages
The one major disadvantage which has kept some families from considering this resource is the initial cost of setting up. Purchasing an entire system from a commercial company will easily set you back by $10000 to $20000. This is not something most families can afford, especially in tough times like these.
In the past, even if you want to create your own homemade renewable plant, there is no way you can. Only big corporations and agencies could afford to own these and hence, the designs were never intended for homes. The only option was to use the commercial services to customize and assemble them for your house.
However, do-it-yourself guides that provide instructions on how to create your own solar panels for less than $200 are now available in the market. Thousands of families have already built their own renewable energy plants today using these DIY guides. My guess is that more people including yourself could one day be generating solar energy for your home.

Record prices at the gas pumps in 2008, affected even the most ecologically naive. Most people were forced to acknowledge that our current sources of energy are not infinite. If we continue to use these resources at the rates that we have been been using them, we will, sooner or later, run out.
With the higher gasoline prices came higher prices for almost everything else. Household budgets were pushed to their limits.

In times like these, many of us start taking a closer look at how many things in our lives are dependent on our current energy sources.
As we look at ways we can become more energy efficient, we might consider alternate energy sources for our homes.
One of the ways to do this is to use solar power as our primary energy source in our homes. It is free, storable and low maintenance.
The simplest way to convert your home to solar power is to have it professionally installed. However, professionally installed solar panels can cost up to $20,000 the average family sized home. This expense can be quite prohibitive in today’s economy.
But, if you can follow a few simple instructions, you can build your own solar panels for about the cost of an average family’s monthly electric bill, approximately $200. The panels are lightweight and portable. The materials and supplies are inexpensive and easy to find. About all you need are a few basic materials such as plywood, copper wire, salt, sandpaper and metal scissors. These materials can be found at your local hardware store. Once the panels have been constructed, choose a good sunny spot outside of your home, to place the solar cells. The cells are storing the solar energy used to power your home, so you’ll want to assure they capture the maximum amount of sunlight. It’s also good to note that the cells still collect and store energy on cloudy days.

You can use home solar energy to; cook, heat your water, light your home, run your appliances, watch TV, listen to music, surf the internet and even go camping.
With solar energy we can become more energy efficient. Solar energy is a free renewable resource because it’s source is the sun. It doesn’t pollute like most of the methods energy giants use to generate the electricity we’re currently using. Simply put, solar energy is a clean, green, free, renewable source of power. It is the most abundant form of energy available for our use.
